Fruity Sorbet Torte Dessert Recipe




Summer is a beautiful time for fun in the sun and good eating, especially with cool desserts and fruit smoothies. The fruity sorbet torte is a low-fat snack that is nutritious and delicious. Once you’ve tried this recipe you will always have the lingering taste for it.

You will need:
6 egg whites, at room temperature
½ tsp. cream of tartar
¼ tsp. salt
½ cup sugar
2 eggs yolks
½ cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. grated orange zest
1 pt. strawberry sorbet, slightly softened
1pt. Mango sorbet, slightly softened
1 cont. (8 oz) frozen reduced fat whipped topping, thawed

Preheat oven to 350F, coat 2 (8”) round cake pans with cooking spray. Line bottoms with wax paper; coat with cooking spray. On medium, beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until foamy. Beat in sugar until thick and glossy, 5 minutes. Beat in yolks. Fold in flour and zest; divide between pans. Bake 12-15 minutes or until pick inserted into centers comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes. Run knife around edge of pans; transfer to racks.

Cool completely. Remove paper. Line 8” spring form pan with plastic wrap to overhang edge by 2”. Place one layer in pan; spread with strawberry sorbet. Top with remaining layer and mango sorbet. Cover; freeze 6 hours. Remove side of pan. Unwrap cake; spread with topping. Garnish with fruit.
